Abdelnasser is a millennial and son of immigrants who is running on a deeply progressive platform that includes improving workers' rights, criminal justice reform, and holding corporations accountable to improve environmental protections. He has experience working for Cook County, having served as the deputy chief of staff for County Clerk David Orr. While there, he helped draft the Running for Office toolkit, a guide on how to run for public office, to make it more accessible to folks who are new to the political process. Before working for the county, Abdelnasser served as the policy director for the Illinois Immigration and Refugee Rights Center, where he advocated for immigrant and refugee rights at all levels of government. Abdelnasser is working to support progressive candidates across Cook County and the Chicago area. He has served as the co-chair for Our Revolution Illinois for the past two years. He has also supported MoveOn-endorsed candidates such as Chuy García, Fritz Kaegi, and Bernie Sanders.

"I live in the 17th District, and I appreciate his push for good government. I also like his investment in public health, improving access to quality health care services through the Cook County system, which provides care to all in need. He also has a great track record in advocating for workers' rights." –Nadia from Orland Park
