Governor, Florida

Andrew became the youngest person in history to be elected to the Tallahassee City Commission before being elected mayor in 2014. During his tenure as mayor, Tallahassee's crime rate dropped to a 10-year low. Under Andrew's leadership, the city "banned the box" and measured people on their merit, not their past. His focus as mayor has been on restorative justice. He was the true progressive in the Democratic primary and won because of his forward-thinking message centered on social justice and lifting up those folks who have been left behind. His agenda includes Medicare for All, a $15 minimum wage, and emphatic opposition to Florida's "stand your ground" law. Andrew has been endorsed by U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, New Florida Majority, Collective PAC, Indivisible, Democracy for America (DFA), Equality Florida Action PAC, the Working Families Party, Women's March Florida, and many other progressive elected officials and organizations. He also has received the Gun Sense Candidate distinction from Moms Demand Action.

"I have lived in Florida my entire life and followed local politics since I was a teenager, and I can honestly say that Mayor Gillum is the first candidate for statewide office I've encountered whom I feel truly excited to support. His proposed agenda is truly progressive and forward-thinking, and if elected, I believe he has the potential to lead a real transformation of Florida into a much more just and equitable state." –Jovahn from Saint Petersburg
