U.S. Congress Arizona 6th

The daughter of immigrants from India, Anita was born in Kansas City, Missouri. When she was 7, her family moved to Arizona. Her father, a mechanical and computer engineer, instilled in her the importance of leading with empathy and listening; her mother, a stay-at-home mom with a passion for the arts, taught her to appreciate the journey. She attended Scottsdale schools, graduating from Chaparral High School in 1994. Anita went on to graduate summa cum laude with degrees in both computer information systems and finance from Arizona State University. She later earned her master’s in journalism from the University of Southern California in 2002. In May 2017, Anita Malik made a bold choice. She stepped down from her role as chief operating officer of a content technology company to run for the U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona's 6th District. Having been at the forefront of advances in digital marketing and technology, Anita recognized the urgent need for real tech leadership in D.C. Throughout her career, Anita has created jobs and inspired others by solving problems, uniting divided teams, and leading by listening. She knows firsthand the importance of comprehensive medical coverage and workplace equality, and she believes we need to level the playing field with fair tax reform that benefits both individuals and small businesses. She is also determined to fight for affordable childcare options, debt-free higher education, and equal pay. Anita and her husband live in Scottsdale with their two boys and two dogs. She loves to cook, is a passionate mentor to women in marketing and tech, finds joy in dancing with her kids, and believes our best system lives outside the noise of party politics.
