Betsy Rader is a lifelong Ohioan, born in Coshocton. Betsy attended The Ohio State University and later Yale Law School. She became a lawyer because she wanted to empower people by giving them a voice. As a civil rights lawyer, Betsy practiced as Senior Counsel at the Cleveland Clinic and served on the Board of Cleveland Legal Aid, which helps to ensure that everyone has access to justice regardless of income. Betsy believes that government should represent the interests of people, not narrow corporate special interests, and that our government should protect us, including the protection of equality of opportunity. Betsy Rader will stand up for ordinary people on issues like affordable healthcare, quality public education, and economic opportunities with jobs that pay good wages.
