Representative Smith is ready to continue the fight for progressive values in Florida. He made history in 2016 when he became the first openly LGBT Latino lawmaker in Florida. Once in the Florida House of Representatives, Rep. Smith co-founded and was elected chairman of the Legislative Progressive Caucus. As a lawmaker, Rep. Smith has been a champion for civil rights, LGBT equality, cannabis reform, and gun safety. If reelected in November, he will continue fighting for public school funding, women's reproductive rights, LGBT equality, and improved workers' rights, including a fair living wage. In addition to gaining the endorsement of MoveOn members, he has also been endorsed by a wide range of organizations, including Our Revolution 305, Our Revolution Orlando, Our Revolution Puerto Rico, Florida Planned Parenthood PAC, SEIU Florida, the Florida AFL-CIO, and many others.

"Meeting Carlos, you immediately feel heard. He is a champion for gay rights, animal welfare, saving the environment, reproductive rights, immigrant rights, and basic HUMAN rights that bring us out of our homes to march about. He embodies what MoveOn already supports and is a leader in a new wave of politics." –Cheyenne from Orlando
