She was the founding vice president of a children's health philanthropy, where she worked on things such as early childhood interventions, school-based health programs, and services to children in foster care. Additionally, she has worked with over 15,000 registered nurses in 23 countries, helping to improve health care access across the globe. She was invited to the White House by President Barack Obama to share best practices about creating faith-based programs focused on improving quality of life, and she returned later to be recognized for her organization's work with First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" initiative. Additionally, she has been an ordained Congregational minister for more than 25 years and currently serves at a church near Canby, OR.

"Her work and life experiences suggest she cares for people and their well-being. In this age of Trump, we need someone like Deb Patterson to remind us of the honorable Americans who still care for others."–Ed from SD-10
