Rep. Gonzalez is ready to continue the fight for progressive values in Georgia. An attorney, mother, and advocate for social justice, she won her seat in a special election in November 2017, flipping the seat from red to blue despite being out-raised 4-to-1 by her opponent. Her legislative work includes protecting children's health and education, fighting for a living wage and nondiscrimination protections in the workplace, and standing up for victims of sexual harassment, domestic violence, and other forms of abuse. In May 2018, Rep. Gonzalez was appointed vice chair of a national task force on Law & Criminal Justice for the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators. Rep. Gonzalez has also cosponsored legislation to expand Medicaid in Georgia and helped pass a budget that fully funded Georgia’s public schools for the first time in over a decade. As the progressive candidate in the race, Rep. Gonzalez is stepping up to be a powerful voice for the residents of Georgia. In addition to gaining the endorsement of MoveOn members, she has also been endorsed by a wide range of organizations, including the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Latino Victory Fund, Georgia Educators Association, Georgia’s WIN List, and EMILY’s List.

"Of course MoveOn should support Deborah Gonzalez. She is a very active member of the legislature. She supports health care for all, health care and schooling for all children from pre-K to graduation from high school, access to jobs with a livable salary, support and upkeep of infrastructure, support of environmental laws." –Marie from Athens
