Devyn's roots are deep in Oklahoma, going all the way back to the Civil War. She was raised on the sacred lands of the Cherokee Nation. She is an educator, nurse, and mother. Devyn began a nonprofit called Operation Nurses Helping Nurses, Inc., after tornadoes devastated Moore in 2013. Operation Nurses Helping Nurses, Inc., helps coordinate nurses and first responders across the country during natural disasters and devastating national events. They were involved in providing support for first responders at the Orlando nightclub shooting and catastrophic flooding in Louisiana. Devyn supports progressive ideals by speaking at rallies and lobbying legislators to increase funding of public education, being an active member of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, and actively fighting for commonsense gun laws as a March for Our Lives vocal supporter.

"Devyn is a lifelong community servant and has dedicated her life to improving the lives of others. Her integrity is impeccable. She is an outstanding example of what an active, compassionate citizen looks like, and she promotes the progressive values that Oklahoma desperately needs." —Cate in Oklahoma City
