Michigan State Senate, District 6

Erika is ready to continue the fight for progressive values in Michigan. She is a current state House representative of the 12th District of Michigan and has championed the needs of represented communities across her district during her tenure. She is running for state Senate, wanting to continue this work with the intention of making sure that regardless of race, sex, gender, or socioeconomic status, folks have equal access to any and all opportunities. She hopes to continue to work on issues that address health, economic, and educational disparities for marginalized folks in Michigan. As a state representative, she sponsored House Bill 4728, which created a nonprofit legal organization contractual fund that assisted folks facing the prospect of deportation.Erika has been endorsed by Michigan Women Win, Michigan Spanish-Speaking Democrats, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, Michigan State AFL-CIO, Michigan Association for Justice, Progressive Women's Caucus PAC, Emily's List, and the Michigan League of Conservation Voters.

"Erika is the best candidate for the job. She has proven herself time and time again to work for the people—not special-interest groups. She's got the endorsement of many, including the teachers union. She is also a teacher. She will fight for working families." –Diane from Taylor
