Coral Springs City Commission Seat 4, Florida

Joshua Simmons has a history of public advocacy. He moved to Coral Springs in 2011 to help raise his sister while his single mother served in the United States Navy, and he became his sister’s legal guardian at the age of 22. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in political science at Florida Atlantic University and successfully completing his master's in psychology, Joshua stayed in Coral Springs, working as a mental health therapist before taking a position as a Broward County Public Schools teacher at Pompano Beach Middle School, followed by his current position at Coral Springs High. If elected in November, Joshua would be the first Black person elected to office in Coral Springs. His campaign platform includes improving and updating the city's infrastructure, revitalizing some of the city's oldest neighborhoods, and supporting the local schools while improving campus safety.

"Josh is an upstanding member of Coral Springs! He’s a teacher, an activist, and invested in the well-being of our city. He also represents a more youthful and liberal side of our city that is important." –Theresa from Coral Springs
