Julie is a fighter for justice and equality for all people. She just won the Democratic nomination in the district, promoting progressive values for a new Colorado. She supports universal health care, criminal justice reform, pushing back against legislation trying to take Colorado backward on immigration policy, making housing more affordable, and building a 21st-century transportation system focused on public transportation. She has been a longtime community organizer, ensuring that college preparatory education is being provided by all high schools in Denver Public Schools and founding the Colorado Latino Forum, a statewide grassroots organization dedicated to building the economic, educational, and political power of Latinos across Colorado. She also helped to build a movement to defend and advance immigrant rights across Colorado and has been at the forefront of several key battles at the state legislature on immigration, including the creation of immigrant driver's licenses and co-drafting the ASSET bill, which allowed Colorado's undocumented students to attend college and pay in-state tuition.

"Not only is she experienced and has a great track record of supporting positive local legislation, her perspective is one that is sorely needed in politics right now. I believe she'll help Americans remember that it's not our background that makes us Americans, but our commitment to the ideals of this country."–Alana from Denver
