Harris County Judge, Texas

Lina was raised by an immigrant family and is acutely aware of the sacrifices that immigrants in Texas and Harris County make to provide educational and economic opportunities for their loved ones. She has dedicated her professional career to expanding opportunity across all communities. Whether it was serving as a Spanish-English medical interpreter at the Texas Medical Center, conducting research on criminal justice policies while at NYU and Harvard, or working at the Texas Civil Rights Project, she is focused on the most vulnerable folks in our community and working to equalize opportunity across gender, class, race, and ZIP Code. She is running on expanding access to early education for Harris County students, changing design and development standards to curb the effects of flooding on Harris County, managing floodplains across the county, and pushing for nondiscrimination policies across transportation, hospitals, and employee handbooks across Harris County. Lina has been endorsed by ASCEND, Annie's List, Battleground Texas, Emily's List, Planned Parenthood Texas Votes PAC, Opportunity First, Promesa PAC, Run for Something, Texas Organizing Project, and #VOTEPROCHOICE.

"Ms. Hidalgo has shown through her career a deep concern for, and understanding of, parts of the Harris County community that have been underserved by our local government for far too long. That knowledge and compassion make her the best candidate to help lead Harris County into the future." –Carl from Houston
