Manka is a lifelong advocate for justice, women, and immigrant rights. She is the vice chair of both the Law & Justice and Human Services & Corrections committees. She has been a senior deputy prosecuting attorney since 2000, and is the former chair of the Therapeutic Alternative Unit. As chair, she supervised the Regional Mental Health Court, Veterans Court, and the Community Assessment and Referral for Diversion program, helping to divert these communities into programs that will help them get better, instead of just incarcerate them. She co-founded Chaya (now API Chaya) and has since led the organization’s work to end systemic violence through education, prevention, and organizing. She also served on the Seattle Police Department Muslim, Arab, and Sikh Advisory Council to address hate crime issues in the region.

“I have been personally acquainted with Manka Dhingra since her first campaign kickoff in 2017. She has been very proactive in the state Senate since her election, authoring several progressive bills which the Senate has passed into law. Her background as a prosecutor and her empathy for the oppressed combine to serve justice well. She should receive MoveOn's enthusiastic endorsement."–Doris from Kirkland
