Commissioner of Public Lands, New Mexico

Stephanie is a committed public servant who knows how to get things done. She is a three-term state representative who has already accomplished a great deal. She stood up against the La Bajada Mine in Santa Fe County, protested the leasing of Chaco Canyon for fracking, fought against the Bureau of Land Management land grab in Taos, opposed fracking in Sandoval County, worked to bring clean water to New Mexico, increased funding for damaged watersheds, and planned for the effects of a long-term drought. She is a native New Mexican and lifelong educator. She wants to build interest in wind and solar investment in New Mexico, ban fracking and trapping on all State Trust lands, and increase the royalties paid to the state for oil and gas generation to the same level as those paid to Texas. She will continue to staunchly oppose the building of a border wall along the southern border and work to tackle the critical water shortage issues that New Mexico continues to face.

"Stephanie Garcia Richard has always been a champion of the conservation of New Mexico’s land. That’s why it’s called “The Land of Enchantment.” She, along with Democratic leadership, will guide New Mexico into a new progressive age."–Josh from Chimayo
