Tedra Cobb was born the younger of two children to Ted (a public school teacher) and Barbara Cobb. When Tedra was in elementary school, her parents’ faith led them to start a foster care agency and ultimately adopt nine children and open their home to many foster children. Raising a family of this size on one income wasn’t easy, but they got by. Tedra got her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Potsdam. That was over 30 years ago, when she fell in love with the beautiful North Country and her husband, Scott. Together, they decided this would be the place to raise their family. They’ve lived in Canton ever since. Tedra’s deep desire to serve her community has been a constant theme in her career. In 2002, Tedra ran for the St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators and, against all odds, beat a powerful incumbent handily. Tedra served Saint Lawrence County for eight years, working side-by-side with community service providers, business owners, community activists, farmers, educators, tradespeople, and her fellow locally elected officials and legislators. Tedra is committed to tackling the problems that people in NY-21 face, such as gaining access to affordable health care, keeping up with demanding jobs, and paying their bills.
