Terry is a Latina woman who has extensive experience in public service and in her district. She did all of her schooling in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. She is a former educator, having taught at South Grand Prairie High School. She has also worked as an attorney in her community and has served in various leadership positions with the Texas League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and local affiliates . District 105 is one of the most competitive districts in the state that contains one of the most diverse ZIP codes in the country. Terry ran for this same seat in 2016 against the now incumbent, and she lost by fewer than 100 votes. This is an opportunity to flip a seat from red to blue this year. Terry is running on a progressive platform that focuses on reducing state regulation on education and standardized testing, and instead bringing community involvement into and providing and maintaining local control of public education. Terry has been endorsed by Annie's List, Planned Parenthood Texas Votes, the AFL-CIO, the Texas Organizing Project, Flippable, and Texas Latina List.

"She is a longtime Irving resident and loyal Democrat. This is her third time, and she was very close to winning last time." – William from Irving
